Every year, amid the vineyards and woods of Chianti, the Chianti Classico Marathon takes place: three routes, all starting and finishing in Piazza Vittorio Veneto in Mercatale Val di Pesa, minutes from Il Vichiaccio.
The shortest route runs through natural surroundings on unpaved roads, woods, countryside and vineyards, with some paved sections. Each category rewards the top five finishers, men and women, and the largest sports associations receive a special award.
