In the heart of Chianti, 20 minutes from Florence
Il Vichiaccio is located near San Casciano in Val di Pesa, the heart of Chianti halfway between Florence and Siena. Its unique position makes it ideal for visiting Tuscany's most important art cities and its enchanting medieval villages.
From Il Vichiaccio you can reach not only Siena and Florence but also other important art cities such as Lucca and Pisa, and visit Tuscan villages such as San Gimignano, Impruneta — world famous for its terracotta — and Greve in Chianti.
The hamlet is about 10 km from Greve in Chianti, a town renowned for wine production, and just as far from San Casciano Val di Pesa, a historic fortified town at the gates of Florence. Located 20 km from Florence and 40 from Siena, Il Vichiaccio is easily reachable from both the A1 Milan-Rome motorway and the Florence-Siena expressway.
Renting a car is the best way to be independent and explore the region. The best way to reach us is to use Google Maps and enter Il Vichiaccio Country House as your destination: when you're in front of the Castelli del Grevepesa winery entrance, take the road to your right for 50 metres and turn left onto Via Vicolabate. After 100 metres you'll find our private road on the right at number 32, marked "Il Vichiaccio". The dirt road, about 500 metres long, leads, after a short steep climb, to the hamlet — you've arrived!
Exit at "Impruneta" and continue towards San Casciano (SS n.2). After about 8 km, at Falciani, turn left following signs for Greve in Chianti. Past the village of Ferrone, opposite the Castelli del Grevepesa winery entrance, turn right for San Casciano and immediately left onto Via Vicolabate. Follow the dirt road for a short stretch and turn right at number 32: the private road will take you to the hamlet.

The bus service to/from Florence is run by AT-Bus. Bus n. 365A Gaiole–Radda–Greve–Florence (via Ferrone) departs from the Piazza Vittorio Veneto Terminal and serves our area: about 40-45 minutes' journey. The "Gabbiano" stop is about 800 metres from the house — we can help with luggage. We recommend always checking the timetable, especially on public holidays.
